Undated; dated from copies on Jisc.

Written by John Bennett, author of Tom Fox, or the Revelations of a Detective, Family Mysteries, Night and Day and Career as an Artful Dodger.

Containing fifty illustrations by John Leech. Leech (1817-1864) was a caricaturist and illustrator, know for his work published in humour magazine Punch. He was also the first illustrator of Dickens A Christmas Carol.

A scarce work.


CONDITION

In a full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; spine is a little cocked, with slight bumping to the extremities and head and tail of the spine. Ownership inscriptions to the front pastedown and endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound, with a touch of straining in places. Pages are occasionally spotted, but otherwise clean.
