This medal has been issued in 1966 to commemorate 1000thanniversary of Christianity in Poland

The Christianity in Poland has been introduced in 966 A.D, soon afterthat the Kingdom of Poland has been created in the years between the coronationof Bolesław I the Bravein 1025 and the death of Bolesław III the Wrymouth in 1138. The legal basis for theexistence of this Christian kingdom was establishedin 1000 during the Congress of Gniezno,when Poland was recognized as the state by HolyRoman Empire and the Pope. During this time, Poland was ruled by the kings anddukes.
